Another Direct method of inducing a circular field is by the use of prods. prods magnetisation is used where the size or location of the article does not permit the use of a head shot or central conductor , current flow and field distribution are indicated. the field between the prods is distorted somewhat by the interaction of the two fields produced prod magneusation is most effective when the prods are spaced 6 to 8 inches apart.
